You Make Smile

Happy Thursday everyone.  Just wanted to make a quick post to share a card made using this week's Mojo Monday Sketch 252.  Since it's the end of the month it's a round or square card.  I just can't resist playing along!  For my card I used a the This and That "Charming" paper pack from Echo Park.  They are on sale this week over at the Hobby Lobby.  I just adore the pattern papers in this collection.  For this card today I started with an old olive card stock as my base.  Following the sketch I adhered various patterned papers from the collection.  The crossword patterned paper is matted on some chocolate chip card stock and the border punch is from SU.  Using a heart stamp from Verve's "Love Notes" stamp set I stamped in Baja Breeze and cut it out using the coordinating die.  My sentiment is also from the same Verve stamp set and the camera embellishment is from a flicker shop.  This was such a fun sketch using some fun patterned papers!  I'll have to save this sketch and put it away to use another time.  Hope you are having a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Maps

Good Wednesday morning!  This week we have a fun challenge for you over at the Papercraft Star!  I have been seeing maps used in everything from scrapbook paper to home decor.  For my project this week I really had some fun using the Maps Collage 059 sheet from our sponsor The House Across The Bay.  For my First project I used a tag from Ranger and ran it right through my printer.  I really love how the map was printed on the entire tag.  This image from the 059 sheet had so many lovely colors.  I simply added some lace along the side and a rosette made from a Tim Holtz rosette die and some patterned paper.  I added a trio of vintage buttons from my stash along with a sentiment that I thought was perfect to use in this challenge from Verve.

For my next project I created a simple card musing the Mojo Monday sketch 251.    I matted some patterned paper on some Early Expresso card stock  along with a piece from the digital image maps 059.  The sentiment was stamped on very vanilla cardstock and distressed using tea dye.  Some seam binding from Paper Loves Glue etsy shop tied in a little bow finishes my card.  Simple and the map coordinates perfectly with this London Market paper line!

My last project is using water slid paper.  I have wanted to do this for such a long time now.  I love the look of water slides on painted furniture and bottles. I am also a big fan of the Polka Dot Closet blog where I got the inspiration for this project.  I started out with a tray I had purchased from a Hancock Fabric store many years ago that happened to be closing.  I painted it using heirloom white paint.  I then followed the directions for printing on the water slide paper.  Next I coated the image using glossy clear paint form Krylon.  I put 2 coats of this finish waiting the recomended 10 mins between each coat.  Once the finish was totally dry I soaked it in some water which released the mage allowing me to place it on my painted tray.  I have to say this is AWESOME!  I so love this look and am anxious to try alother project using water slide paper.  Let's see what fabulous projects you create!  Just enter your projects by Monday 6:00 am EST, for your chance to win some digital images from our sponsor.  Don't stop here though be sure to check out what the other design team ladies have created!

Papercraft Star Anniversary Day 2

Welcome back to day 2 of The Papercraft Star Anniversary week!  Today's challenge is hosted by our very talented Sylvia!  Her challenge is to create a card using a "cold summer drink".  There's an awesome picture to use as inspiration if you choose, over on the Papercraft Star blog as well as Sylvia's blog. No worries coffee drinkers, Sylvia has a inspirational card for you too.   For my card I was totally inspired by this photo.  It's been super hot over here in Texas with temperatures over 100 degrees.  There's nothing like a tall glass of ice cold lemonade during these HOT I'M MELTING summer days!  For my base I used Choice White cardstock from Taylored Expressions and matted some patterned paper from My Minds Eye.  Following the Mojo Monday sketch for this week I matted more of the patterned paper to Yo Yo Yellow cardstock from SU along with some Sky Blue, also from SU (retired).  The circle was cut using Spellbinders dies and the sentiment is from a stamp set by Taylored Expressions called Chillax.  And just for fun I used my brand new pin-wheel die from Taylored Expressions and added some yellow buttons to the bottom.  Well I hope you find time to join in on the fun this week.  There are prizes to be won from our sponsor The House Across The Bay at each challenge.  Be sure to stop by tomorrow for Jinny's challenge.  I hope you are having a wonderful "cool" day!

Quick little post this evening.  I created this card using this week's Mojo Monday sketch, and inspiration from The Kraft Journal.  I started with some kraft cardstock, which I stamped on using versa mark and and distressed the edges with some whisper white craft ink.  I then created an around the page frame using a tutorial from Andrea Ewen in her blog Ewenstyle.  I then added a patterned paper embossed with a cuttle bug folder.  I then stamped an image in crumb cake ink and cut it with a spellbinders die.  I added some lace and flowers along with a stick pin from Webster's Pages.  The sentiment was stamped in the same crumb cake ink and hand cut into a banner.  That does it for this card.  Thank you for stopping by.

A little cheese in my blog?

Hello bloggy friends.  I've been having a bit of a tough time updating my blog.  I know what I want it to look like, I just can't get it to work:-(.  So I'm stuck,(temporarily of course), with a bit of a cheesy blog.  It will just have to stay that way for awhile.  Just over look the pepto color, perhaps by focusing on my Mother's Day card created with this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  Love this sketch!  Even more, I like peeking at everyone's interpretation of the same sketch.  For my card I with a buttercream cardstock form Taylored Expressions, and adhered some Girl's Paperie yellow gingham check.  I stitched using a blue thread around the gingham paper, and added some dot paper from Webster's Pages.  The flower was cut using a Spellbinders die.  I used a pearl bead for the center of the rolled flower.  For my sentiment I used a Verve stamp from the "One Person" stamp set.  A few half back pearls accent the sentiment and some seam binding finishes my card.  Such a fun sketch.  Well I hope you are all having a good week and thank you for stomping by:-)

Mojo 221

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's Eve.  Here in Central Texas cedar pollen is high so I am having a hard time dealing with allergies.  Luckily it gives me time to sit down and card craft.  For this card I used Mojo Monday sketch 221, which is square or round.  For my card I used the square sketch.  I started with River Rock cardstock as my base along with patterned papers from Prima called Madeline.  I painted a chipboard dress form from Maya Rd with some distress stain called Picket Fence, and added coordinating papers to create a dress.  A little vintage lace along with a satin bow finishes my card.  My sentiment was stamped in Chocolate Chip from a stamp set called, "I like your style".  I hope you all enjoy your Sunday, thanks for stopping by.

Mojo 217

It's the end of the month so it's square or round over at the Mojo Monday blog.  For me it's a round card today!  I used my scalloped circle spellbinder die so this is a little card, but it's so cute!  I used a stamp set from Basic Grey called "Snow Baby", along with the coordinating paper.  This little Eskimo girl just looks so adorable.  I colored her with copic markers and added glitter to her hood.  What girl doesn't like a little sparkle every now and then?  If you're my daughter it's sparkles every day all day long!  A little seam binding from Paper Loves Glue etsy store and a snow flake and this card is done!  I hope everyone has a good week and thank you for taking a peek!

Mojo Monday on a Wednesday!

Hello my bloggy friends!  If you're looking for my Papercraft Star "Thank you", please click HERE.  Today I had a chance to play with this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I love sketches, mostly because everyone sees the sketch in a different way.  Weather it's flipped or a different shape is used, it always amazes me to see how different they come out.  I am convinced that there are creative people out there who see the world a little differently than others.  The sketch crew for the Mojo Monday blog must be those people.  There are some super pretty cards already linked up.  For my card I used patterned papers from a Prima collection called "Madeline".  I started out with a card stock called "Soft Sky" from SU (retired).  Then I adhered coordinating papers from the "Madeline" collection.  My sentiment is from Verve's "Feel the Sun", which is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink and cut using the Vintage Oval die from Verve.  The lace is from my stash and the flower is from Maya Rd.  A little flourish, and push pin complete my card.  I hope everyone is enjoying their week.  Thank you for stopping by.

Christmas Smooches!

Hello my bloggy friends!  Hope everyone is having a good week so far.  Here in Central Texas we had a cold front come in!  After a summer of 100 degree weather everyday, it's time to break out the winter coats, hats and mittens!  This change of weather put me in the mood to create this card.  The color inspiration came from this weeks challenge from the "My Partner In Crafting Crime", and I used a sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday.  These colors were just so fun to work with, I mean why not use pink in a holiday card.  I used a hot pink cardstock as my base.  I created my own background paper by stamping snowflakes in pink pirouette and added some faux stitching.  I then cut out a circle from some pink pirouette cardstock and embossed it with a swiss dot folder.  The image is a stamp from Taylored Expressions set called Penguin Pals.  Aren't these the cutest little penguins!!!  I just love these little cuties.  I colored them with Copic markers and added a little blush to their cheeks.  Once I die cut the image using Spellbinders labels fourteen, I matted it to some Certain Celery cardstock.  My embellishment was created using some tulle a little tinsel cord and a flourish.  I topped it off with a snowflake from K&Co.  This one was such a fun card.  I hope everyone enjoys the weekend and thank you for stopping by.

Card for Teacher

So it's Friday and we are ending the first week of school.  I made this card to give to my son's teacher along with some items from the classroom wish list.  I have a number of educators in my family so I thought I'd wish my son's kindergarten teacher well and I hope she has a great year too.  For this card I used papers from Kaiser craft called "Class of 87".  These bright papers worked well for this card meant for a elementary school teacher.  I used the sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday challenge for the layout, and pretty much stuck to the sketch.  The image is from October Afternoon which I colored with SU markers.  Well that does it for this card.  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
