Happy Birthday Baby Ava

My baby girl has turned 2.  Although she still looks like a little baby with her chubby cheeks and round belly, I know soon one day I'll wake up and she will look more like a little girl.  I created this card for her birthday with a special little message inside.  The stamp set I used is from Crafty Secrets called Birthday Kids.  I colored the image with copic markers as well as paper pieced the dress.  The paper is from The Girl's Paperie and the flower was made using a folded ribbon technique.  I used the colors in the Play Date Cafe Challenge for this week which were a mauve, blueberry color and a cream.  Even though baby Ava was more excited about opening her gifts than cards, we had a good day celebrating her birthday.  Thank you for stopping by.

It's Your Day

What a wonderful Sunday it has been.  I went back to my home town to celebrate the Our Lady of Grace 100th Anniversary.  This little church has been filled with farmers, and small town folks every Sunday for as long as I can remember.  It was nice to see my own son running around with the children of my high school friends.  One of which is my dearest friend who celebrates her birthday one day after mine.  This is the card I created for her.  I used the colors in the CR84FN Color Challenge 31.  In this challenge the colors were a light pink, green, and a neutral color.  I used pink pirouette cardstock from Stampin Up as my base and a patterned paper from The Girl's Paperie.  I added some lace trim and seam binding along with a rose trim.  I tucked a tag under the trim and stamped my sentiment and framed up with a vanilla frame from Stampin Up.  The burlap heart I cut out from some fabric I had, and adhered some pearls down the center.  I love this challenge because all the entries are so lovely to look at as well as the inspiration from the Design Team.  There is still time to enter this challenge because it will for the rest of the summer be a biweekly challenge.  So you have a plenty time to check it out and play along.   I hope everyone has had a wonderful Sunday.

Father's Day Card

What a week it has been!  I celebrated a birthday this week and was selected as a fab four in last weeks Play Date Cafe challenge!  Thank you Play Date Cafe!!!  Well the creative juices were overflowing so I jumped right in and created this Father's Day Card using this week's  Papercraft Star sketch.  I recently purchased a stamp set from a new company called Tradefish Designs, which is devoted to creating stamps with masculine themes.  I used a variety of papers from Bo Bunny's The Time Piece Collection, as well as some Kraft light weight cardstock,  and designer paper from Stampin Up.  To give this card a masculine feel I tried to use textures from the burlap scrap fabric as well as some hardware from Tim Holtz.  I often struggle with masculine cards so I try to stick with a neutral color pallet, and leave my embellishments simple.  With Father's Day just around the corner I'm looking hard to spot other masculine themed cards on my favorite blogs!  Hope everyone is having a good weekend and thank you for taking time to stop by.

Peaceful Wishes

Quick post today while my kiddos are napping.  I created this card for the Play date cafe challenge 84.  I first saw these colors and thought back to my visit to China.  I saw the most beautiful brocade fabrics and used those beautiful fabrics as further inspiration for my card.  I used a stamp set called Circle Circus to create my own patterned paper stamped in Rich Razzleberry and Pale Plum.  My image is from another stamp set called Eastern Blooms also from Stampin Up.  I punched out small flowers and adhered them to the cherry blossom branch and used some black bling for the center.  I then added a simple green ribbon and small bow to finish up my card.  The sentiment is a rub on from Stampin Up which I thought was perfect for my card and the feeling I had remembering back to an amazing trip.  I hope everyone is having a good week and thanks for taking a peek!

Masculine Anniversary Card

Good Sunday morning.  This week the Papercraft Star blog had a dual challenge using a photo as inspiration to create a wedding or anniversary project an/or a masculine card.  You could do one or both.  I have decided to combine the challenges.  For this card I took the inspiration of the photo's white on white look.  Since my main color would be white I tried to use different textures to make my card look more interesting.  I used a embossing Swiss dot folder from Sizzix along with some designer cardstock from Stampin Up.  The sentiment is from Verve witch I used a Spellbinder ribbon tag die to stamp on.  To make it look more masculine I adhered a striped black and silver printed paper down the center.  This was a fun dual challenge and I'm looking forward to seeing other dual challenges witch will be happening the entire month of June.  So if you didn't get a chance to participate this time you have all month to try one.  Also Trade Fish Design is offering a 10% discount to Papercraft Star followers!  What an incentive to check them out!  Thank you for stopping by.
