Papercraft Star Challenge 151

Hello everyone.  Summer is here and here in central TX it is already SO hot!  Luckily I have Papercraft Star's newest photo challenge that keeps me inside the cool air conditioned house creating!  We have a super fun photo for you this week.  How does this photo inspire you?

For me I was inspired by the bright colors in the pitcher, but if you look in the background there are some people sitting on the side of the pool splashing their legs.  That is what caught my attention!

I started with some tangerine tango card stock then matted some designer paper from a retired SU paper pack.  The sentiment "Chillax", or should I day definition, is from Taylored Expressions.  With the weather being so hot already that's all I want to do...sit and Chillax!  Using some of the sticker embellishments from the paper pack I added some flourishes and a flower which I popped up using a thick pop dot.  I colored the lime with copics and added glossy accents.  This card was so fun to make and came together so easy.  I just love this color combo.  I can't wait to see what you come up with.  For more wonderful inspiration please to check out rest of the design team's projects at the Papercraft Star blog.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are having a good week.

Hugs,

Anitra

A Happy Birthday to You!

Hello by blog land friends!  Today is my design team member Deanne of Three Trees birthday!  Because she lives so far away I wanted to make this card for her Birthday today and post it on my blog.  I know it won't get to her until a few days after, but it's the thought that counts right?  Using the Wednesday Sketch Club 129 sketch from My Favorite Things I created this card using the "Sweet Girl" paper line from Echo Park

I started with a pink card stock from Paper Trey Ink, and stitched one of the pattern papers from Echo Park.  I then created my banner strip and matted that on some Rose Red card stock.  The sentiment is from Crafty Seceret's Clear Art Stamps, and I used some Spellbinders dies to make the circle and lacy circle.

My apologies for the photo, I had to take this one with my phone.  I'll try to post pictures of the inside of the card later as I decorated that as well.  I hope Deanne has a wonderful Birthday and be sure to pop on over to her blog and leave her some birthday comments!  Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs,
Anitra

Papercraft Star Photo Challenge

Hello Wednesday!  Today is my son's 7th birthday and it's going to be a good day!  I have plans to start the morning off by singing the Good Morning Sunny Wednesday song for my baby and making him some birthday pancakes!  Here at the Papercraft Star we also have a fun photo challenge for you!  Not only has our design team created some stunning cards to inspire you, we also welcome Sue Lelli to our team!  I told you today was going to be a good one!  Please stop by her blog Card Therapy and give her a big welcome!

For my card I was inspired by the chair.  I had this great stamp from MFT stamps that I've neglected and thought it would be perfect to use on this challenge.

I started out with a pink card stock base and matted some patterned paper from The Girl's Paperie.  (I miss that line.)  I then stamped the image on some snow white card stock in memento tuxedo back and paper pieced the image using more paper from The Girl's Paperie.  I added a little lace on the side along with a boarder piece along the bottom.  The flower is also from The Girl's Paperie and the sentiment from MFT stamps.  How does this weeks photo inspire you?  I'd love to see what you come up with or use some of the suggestions to get you started.  Be sure to take a look at the other Design Team members for even more inspiration!  Thank you for stopping by.

Hugs,
Anitra

Mixed Media Color Challenge #1

Hello everyone!  Yes I know, a post on a Monday?  I just couldn't pass up playing along in the newest challenge from Mona Pendleton and Sue Lelli!  This is a Mixed Media Color Challenge and for all you CR84FN crafters, this color challenge is just the thing to get you reunited with these two fabulous ladies!  The photo reminds me of the CR84FN colors.  Now I have never really done mixed media projects but trust me it's not as scary as you think.  I just took out some of my card crafting supplies and had fun.

I started with some patterned paper from Teresa Collins "Posh" paper line.  Using Tattered Angles Chalkboard mist and a Maya Rd stencil I added a flourish pattern as a  background.  Then to bring out the misted pattern I used a black sharpie and faux stitched around the pattern.

I added some letters from the Girl's Paperie along with some corrugated paper which I painted using gesso.  On the corrugated piece I made a banner again from the Teresa Collins "Posh" line and added some American Craft letters.  To bring out the "Finding", I traced around the letters using a black sharpie.  Just because I wanted to try to Mod Podge tissue paper I adhered some black polka dot tissue then gave it a light gesso wash and stamped using a dress form stamp from The Girl's Paperie.  I found some stitching and loopy rub ons from SU, that I added to the side of the stamped dress form.

For the next page I added a bit of the corrugated paper on top of some gray striped washi tape.  The letters are from Recollections and the arrows are covered with the Teresa Collins paper.  I adhered a piece of paper doily which I stamped a clock from The Girl's Paperie stamp set.  Because I thought some of the pink was a little too bright I gave it a gesso wash to dull it down.

To finish my art journal page up I added a piece of lace and a little tab from Echo Park's Summer Time paper line.  Another arrow points to the sentiment which was covered in some retired SU patterned paper and faux stitched.

This was a fun project and I'm looking forward to seeing more challenges.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Hugs,
Anitra

Beautiful Pinks

Hello everyone.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  Both my little ones are out of school for the summer and it is getting hectic having them home.  Luckily they are signed up for summer activities to keep them busy.  This week over at the Papercraft Star we have another photo challenge for you.  Create a project that is inspired by the photo.  There are suggestions to use if you choose.   For my project I was inspired by the colors and the details on the fireplace mantel.

I started with a blush cardstock and matted some white cardstock that I embossed using a cuttlebug embossing folder.  I added a handmade flower some seam binding along with some pom pom trim.

I used a sentiment from Verve that I stamped in Memento cocoa and cut using a Spellbinder's die.  On the sentiment I embellished using some half back pearls.  That's it for my card.  I love the photo and how this card came out.  Be sure to check out the rest of the design team members for some super beautiful inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by.
