Papercraft Star Challenge 60

Hello everyone.  This week's challenge at Papercraft Star is Steampunk!   For this challenge I had to do a little research because honestly I had no idea what the Steampunk style was.  Keeping metal in mind, my first project was a card using an image from our sponsor The House Across The Bay called "Hot Air Balloons".  I adhered the image to a background called "Writing Background Squares"that is also from our sponsor.  My sentiment is from SU which I framed with a Tim Holtz Ornate Plate.  Some gears and fly wheel complete the embellishments on this card.  For the altered heart I totally used the photo as inspiration.  This started out as a heart shaped pill box.  First I covered the box with some textured paper.  Then I used various gears from both Tim Holtz and 7 Gypsy's for the top of the box.  To make it more interesting I also used old broken jewelry, from earring backs to broken chains.  I found that a glue called Jewel It worked the best when I was glueing metal to metal.  To finish the box off I added some Angel wings.  I really liked how these two projects turned out.  The best part is what's actually inside the little "Steampunk" inspired pill box.  I added pictures of my little cuties and gave it to my husband who now displays it in his office.  Well I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!  Think metal and have fun!

  3. Anitra, you have outdone yourself on this challenge! Oh my goodness, that pill box is gorgeous. For someone who had to do a little research on steampunk, I would have never known from the looks of this. In no way does this look like it was your first time creating in this style. Bravo!
