Pin Cushions!

Greetings everyone!  I know I haven't been posting often.  I've been so busy hand quilting a baby quilt for a dear friend due this month!  I did manage to take a break from quilting to make a couple projects.  Since I had my thread in hand I made some adorable pin cushions.  With so many decorative stick pins available from Webster's Pages to Maya Road, I thought why not store them in these sweet pin cushions!  I started by cutting some fabric I had in my stash with the largest Spellbinders heart die.  I then glued ribbon to the right side of the top heart.  I used an adhesive called Fabric Tac.  I then sandwiched some lace between the two hearts right sides together.  Using a simple running stitch I sewed the pieces together leaving a small opening to turn the hearts, right side of the fabric out, and stuff with poly fill.  Next I added various flowers to the top adhering with the Fabric Tac and stuck some decorative stick pins.  This was a fun and easy project.  If you are interested in seeing a video tutorial leave me a comment letting me know and I will try to put one together!  The color combination was inspired by this week's color story over at the Play Date Cafe.  I just love the color challenges over at the Play Date Cafe!  Just use the colors of Mojito, Peony, and Sand to create...well ANY project and link up by Tuesday by 11:00p.m.  The challenges are always fun and have me looking at color in a whole new way.  Well wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.  I'm off to get back to that quilt!
