Happy Leap Year!

Hello everyone!  Today is Leap Year and also the start of another challenge from The Papercraft Star!  This week's theme is to include a leap year frog in your projects.  For my card I went with some bright pattern papers from Making Memories called "Flutter".  I started with some baja breeze card stock and matted the patterned dot paper.  The image is from Stampin Up called "Frolicking Frogs", which is colored using Copic markers.  What a fun and lazy looking frog just chilling out on his pad!  I used Spellbinders labels 4 die to cut out the image and added some coordinating buttons to the bottom.  That does it for my card!  I hope you enjoy this extra day in February and take some time to play along.  For more inspiration stop by the rest of the design team members.   Our spotlight designer this week is Sylvia.  If you haven't already stop by and take a peek into her world!  Wishing you happy crafting!

Papercraft Star Challenge 85

Here's another Papercraft Challenge to get you through you week!  Our new challenge is "in the kitchen".  Create a project using a kitchen theme and link it up by Monday 6:00 a.m. Est.  for you chance to win some fabulous images from our sponsor The House Across The Bay.  This week we also welcome the newest design team member Jinny Newlin!  With such a fun challenge this gave me a opportunity to make a recipe flip book.  I love finding and trying out new recipes from different magazines.  The thing is I don't like keeping all those magazines.  I started out with a 5"x 7" acrylic frame which I drilled two holes in the top.  I then cut some chipboard 5x7 inches and decorated with patterned papers and embellishments.  The gathered trim is from prima and the flower is from Maya Road.  The little ticket is from October Afternoon.  I look forward to seeing what you create and be sure to check out the rest of the design team members for more inspiration.  Hope you have a great week and thank you for stopping by.

Papercraft Star Challenge 84

Hello everyone!  I hope the week is going well for you all.  Ready for another challenge over at the Papercraft Star?  This week's challenge is to use a butterfly in your project.  For my project I tried a new style of card called a trifold shutter card.  I found a great tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers here.  I followed the instructions and matted some patterned papers from Echo Park in each segment.  The sentiment is from Verve which was die cut using a Spellbinders die.  For the embellishments I used some paper flowers along with some seam binding.  The butterflies were punched using a Martha Stewart punch and other coordinating papers also from Echo Park.  Now it's your turn show us your projects using butterflies.  Just link up by Monday 6:00 am EST for your chance to win some beautiful images from our sponsor The House Across The Bay!  Don't forget to stop by the other design team members blogs and check out their projects!

Valentine tree

Welcome to another challenge for the Papercraft Star!  This week's inspiration is hearts.  For my project I had purchased this tree I found at Michaels, which reminded me of my mother.  One Christmas she made herself a pink feathered Christmas tree that was to stay up all year long to be decorated with each season.  Well I guess Mom gave up right around Easter, because she took down the tree not to long after Valentines day.  For my tree I made ornaments using the images from our sponsor The House Across the Bay, Valentine Music of love 205, and Victorian Valentine 206.

For this ornament I used a Tim Holtz Facet and adhered the image using some Crystal Clear adhesive to the back and finished it with some seam binding for a bow. 

For these ornaments I took further inspiration from Lisa Pace's new book Delight in the Season which is now available!  She likes to edge tags and rosettes with diamond and silver stickles.  With the vintage images from The House Across The Bay I adhered the images to various chip board pieces and edged with silver stickles.  

Just for fun I found this picture of me and mom showing off the heart decorations we made for that pink feather tree all those years ago!

Dino Birthday!

The Card Positioning System Blog is celebrating their 5th anniversary with a huge celebration!  If you haven't already stop by and play along with the sketches.  There are many chances to win and also become reacquainted to past and present design team members.  This is the first of 15 sketches they will be posting each day for the fifteen days.  Sadly I'm already behind but thought this first sketch would be perfect for a birthday card we need for a party this weekend.  I started with some bayou blue card stock as my base.  The patterned papers are from Basic Grey, and the image is from Penny Black stamps called "Dino Party".  I colored the little dinosaurs with Copic markers and added some buttons from SU.  That does it for my card today, now if I can just remember to purchase the present tomorrow!  Thank you for stopping by!

February 1st already!  My son just celebrated his 100th day of school, which I guess is a big deal in our school district because when I dropped him off the teachers had decorations all over the place!  Well Valentine's day is a big deal here in my house.  I love to sit and have my little ones make their Valentine cards to hand out and send off.  Here's a card I created using a Pure Innocence stamp set from MFT stamps.  I used patterned papers from October Afternoon.  I followed a sketch by MFT.  The color combination of Red, Pink, and Lt. blue is the color story from CR84FN.  I added some scalloped circles behind the image but other than that I stuck to the sketch.  The image was paper pieced and colored with Copics.  I tied some seam binding and adhered a button to the center, and the little banner was hand cut.  I just love the Pure Innocence line.  This little girl reminds me of my own little one.
