Tim Holtz 12 Days of Tags Day 8

Super quick post this evening.  My little one is not feeling well :-(  Here is my take on day 8 tag over on the Tim Holtz blog.  I was more of a steampunk look which looked great on his tag.  Since I didn't have a lot of the supplies he used I went with a softer look.  Here's my take on the tag.  Hope everyone is having a good week with good health!

Tim Holtz 12 Days of Tags Day 6!

Hello all!   Day 6 and I have to say I'm going through card withdraws.  I think I'll sit back down and make a matching card for this tag.  Today's tag is embossing foil with painting and distressing!  Tim Holtz gives easy instructions for creating a foiled tag here.  For my tag I embossed my foil with a cuddle bug folder called Holly Ribbons.  I painted over the raised parts with some paint and smooch inks.  Using the same paint I colored over the bell and holly charm and coated it with clear embossing power.  I adhered my charm on a tag I covered with some vintage music sheet.  Some seam binding and sheer lace finishes off my tag.  Hope you are all having a good week.  Stop by tomorrow to see the new challenge over at the Papercraft Star!

Tim Holtz 12 Days of Tags Day 5

Ok any light weights out there?  Feeling a little crafting fatigue?  I have to say I was feeling it.  That is until I saw the technique shared today over at the Tim Holtz blog.  I've never used alcohol inks before and am impressed by the quick drying and concentrated color!  For my tag I found that when I inked the transparency with the ink and then used the Archival ink to remove the red color, I had a hard time getting a nice look.  By accident I discovered if I used clear cling stamps with out ink and stamped on the transparency, the alcohol  inks stuck to the cling stamp and just lifted off with no problems!  What a happy mistake!!!  You can see where I used the Archival ink stamp and removal technique on the tree.  It looks a bit dingy because I couldn't get off all the black archival ink.  For my wreath I just punched leaves from a Martha Stewart punch and adhered them to a circle chipboard.  Don't forget to pop on by the TH blog and leave a comment each day, you just might win one of the daily prizes!  Thank you for stopping by.

Tag 4!

There are some beautiful tags on the Tim Holtz blog for day 4 of the Twelve Days of Tags.  For my tag I used a large snowflake cut from some grunge paper, and outlined in silver stickles.  I tried to make a similar background but couldn't quite get the same effect.  For my large snowflake I did use the crackle paint in picket fence and distressed it using broken china ink.  I cut out the "25" using the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge backed with some music sheet paper.  The background needs a little work, but all in all I like the way it turned out.  If you're creating tags each day too I love seeing the inspiration!  Thank you for taking a look.

Day 3 of Tim Holtz 12 Days of Tags

The tag for today looked like it would be a cinch, however I had a really hard time creating this one.  Tim Holtz did a new technique that I have never seen before.  I wanted so much to try it out, but sadly I did not have the "Cut and Dry Felt Sheet".  He made a custom stamp pad with the felt sheet!  I might have to break down and just buy this one to try it out.  For my tag I cut Various fonts from Cricut cartridges to get a similar look.  I added shimmers to the letters and sprayed the entire tag with some Perfect Pearls Mist in turquoise.  Hopefully I'll have an easier time with tomorrow's tag.  Thank you for stopping by and taking a look.  If you're participating in the Twelve days of Tags with Tim Holtz leave me a comment and let me know how it going for you.  Thank for stopping by.

My take on day 3 tag

Day 2 of Tim Holtz Twelve Days of Tags

Day 2 of the Tim Holtz 12 Days of Tags!  Sadly I did not have the the kraft Resist paper pad so I had to make due with what I did have.  I had some vintage sheet music so I used that and stamped my Christmas sentiment in Versa Mark and embossed with crystal clear embossing power.  I'm so glad the vintage music sheet didn't go up in flames!  I was able to get a similar look, but the embossing power spread when I embossed it so you can't really see the "S" in my sentiment "Season's Greetings".  For my tag I also went for a more shabby chic look, using a pink color pallet.  My deer was cut from my Cricut Cindy Lou cartridge.  Some seam binding and burlap a long with buttons for my border and I finished my day 2 tag!  What a fun event so far!  Be sure to check it out daily and don't forget to comment.  Prizes are given away each day!  Bring on day 3 Mr. Holtz!

Twelve Days of Tags Day 1

It's Tim Holt's twelve days of tags!  I'm going to TRY to play along on each of these day.  For this tag I didn't have some of the dies so I used my Cricut to cut some the flourishes and the "Peace".  I tried the pine cone tutorial he has on his blog, but I struggled with this die cut.  I found it difficult making them look like pine cones.  I had asked my hubby what they looked like and he said..."flowers?".  Instant sad face!  Oh well I did have fun making this tag so I'm happy with it.  Looking forward to tomorrows tag.  Check out the Tim Holtz blog each day and don't forget to comment as there will be prizes given away daily!!!  Have a great day!
