CPS Challenge 185

Here's this week's sketch over at the Card Positioning System blog.  I wanted to stick to the sketch as much as possible.  I love to use designer papers to make the card more interesting, and this particular paper by Bo Bunny has an added glitter to it.  I love it when I can get my paper to do the work for me; especially this week, since I've lost a bit of my creative mojo.  Never fear, after catching up on some of my favorite blogs, I feel like I'm slowly coming out of it.  It didn't help that it rained most of the week.  Today, however, the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day.  Heading out to hear an outdoor concert with my little family and life is good...  Hope everyone has a good and safe weekend.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge 157

It's Mojo time once again, and since I sat out last challenge I wanted to jump right in this week.  I used my web edge punch again and I have to say I really love this punch!  With so many new products out there I sometimes find it hard not to fill up my cart.  Luckily my pocket book helps me edit what I can purchase!  With a few Halloween cards under my belt, I'm right on track to sending them out to friends and family.

Play Date Cafe Challenge 47

I am so excited to have been chosen as one of the Fab Four in challenge 46 over at the Play Date Cafe.  Thank you all for such nice comments.  This week's challenge is to use the colors: true red, turquoise, leaf green, black and white.  At first I had a difficult time with these colors.  After seeing all of the great examples from the Play Date Cafe designers as well as from the entries so far, the creative juices started flowing.  I made a journal for my sweet little cousin who is a Sophomore in high school.  I wanted to make it fun and bright.  I added lined paper and heavy card stock so she can put pictures of her favorite memories from the school year. Using the Zutter bind-it-all, the journal was a "cinch!"  I hope she enjoys her Sophomore year!

Paper craft Star Sketch Challenge 12

So it's been almost 3 weeks of blogging and I have to say I am so humbled by all the response and comments from all my fellow crafters. I actually recieved a comment from Elizabeth Moore from Runs with Scraps Blog and co-creator of the Papercraft Star Challenge Blog, who invited me to participate in the current challenge.  Over at the Papercraft Star Challenge blog, this week's challenge is a sketch challenge.

After seeing this sketch I just knew I wanted to do a scrapbook layout.  I was so excited to scrapbook these photos because they have such a great story behind them.  My friend inherited all her family photos from an aunt and has taken on the task of archiving them. She allowed me to help by making a page for her to put alongside the amazing layouts she has already done.  These photos were actually taken for a photo contest in which her Uncle Ronald won!  Her mother Constance is simply adorable, and the two of them together are beautiful children. Here is the page and I hope my dear friend likes it.

Wednesday is here and the weekend is slowly coming into view! To help move this week along I wanted to participate in the Taylored Expression Sketch Challenge.  I had some designer paper from last year called Cast-A-Spell.  Can you believe it, I had not even opened it!  That all changed today.  I have to say, I love all the paper in the pack.  I'm only sad that it's retired and no longer avaliable. This sketch gave me the opportunity to use a few different patterns.  This card is just what I needed to make to remind me that Halloween is fast approaching and that my son is set on a Super Mario costume.  I'll have to put this one on the refrigerator so I can remember to hunt one down in his size and order it early!

3D Item and a matching card

Over at the Play Date Cafe, the challenge for this week is color splash.  I chose to use copper as my splash of color on a black and white background.  First I wanted to jump right in and alter something I had around the house.  I found a decorative dressform I bought years ago and had forgotten about.  It was so forgotten, it was still in the box with tags and all.  Once I covered it in a white and black taffeta, which I had purchased from JoAnn's, I went to work embellishing it.  I made a flower using some wired ribbon and cut some velvet leaves using pinking shears.  Now, I have to say, she is a cutie! So much more stylish than the original, boring black cover.  Since I can't fully break away from making cards, I created a matching card using leftovers. Now without further ado, here are my entries.

CPS Challenge 183

Over at the Card Positioning System blog, this week's challenge was a bit difficult for me.  I had some trouble finding inspiration that would suit the rows on the right-hand side of the sketch.  When I was in my local scrapbooking store I saw this awesome paper by Graphic 45, called Proper Gentleman. It hit me! This line of paper was just perfect for creating a masculine birthday card.  I happened to have two people in mind that were celebrating birthdays this week, both my cousin Jorge and Step-Father.  Happy 29th Birthday Jorge! Happy Birthday Da!  Hope you both have a wonderful birthday.
