Three Little Words

So it's FRIDAY!!!  I hope everyone is getting ready to enjoy their weekend!  While reading one of my favorite blogs, Papercraft Star, I discovered that they have message board.  One of the threads is a "question of the day"  This past week Angi asked the question, "Have you ever tried to change your crafty style as things change or new trends come out of the industry?"  Good question.  Which got me thinking, what is my crafty style anyway?  I know I love to create vintage style projects, but I do like to try the latest trend.  One trend I've been seeing is scrunched binding and chipboard frames.  For this card I used a "Buff Ivory" card stock from The Kraft Outlet as the base of my card.  I also used the same card stock to stamp my image and make the frame.  To create the frame I used two dies from Spellbinders labels 9 and embossed it with a cuddle bug folder called textured textiles.  I distressed the frame with distress inks by Ranger.  For the embellishments I used seam binding by 7 Gypsies (also purchased from the Kraft Outlet) which I altered by soaking it in water and scrunching it up in a ball and letting it dry. The lace is from an old wedding dress I rescued from the Good Will.  The gem butterfly was purchased from Taylored Expressions. So what's your crafty style?  Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Hello Sunshine!

A quick post today.  I created this card for The Kraft Journal challenge for this week, which was "it's hip to be square".  Starting with a square base of Kraft card stock I adhered pieces of patterned paper from Colorbox called "Flea Market".  For the sentiment, I used a Verve stamp called "Feel the Sun", which I matted on a Kraft card stock.  I used my new around the page punch from Martha Stewart to create the edging around the sentiment.  For the embellishments I used twill along with baker's twine also purchased from the Kraft Outlet.  I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.  Thank you for taking a peak.

Papercraft Star Challenge 33

Hello Friday!!!  I just love weekends, and I just love this card!  For this project I used the sketch from Papercraft Star's blog along with a Pure Innocence stamp set from My Favorite Things stamps. The brightly colored patterned paper comes from Colorbox, called Sweet Life.  I first stamped my image on Choice white card stock, then I paper pieced her dress by stamping my image again on a patterned stripped paper, and carefully cut it out.  Once I adhered the dress to that little cutie I colored her in using Copic markers. Another element I used in this card is a My Favorite Things  Die called Banner Day.  I see banners being used in so many projects this die makes it so easy to design custom banners for scrapbook layouts and cards.  The sentiment I used was cut out using Spellbinders circle die small and a scolloped circle die.  I really had fun on this challenge, thank you Liz for another great sketch!  I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.  Thanks for taking a peak.

Play Date Cafe 68

The Play Date Cafe challenge this week is Shabby Chic.  Since I love me some Shabby I just had to participate in this challenge.  Before my love of paper crafting, I had a long love affair with FABRIC!!!  For this challenge I pulled out some silk, cotton and lace.  Using a pattern I purchased called "Six in the City Bag," I sewed this charming bag!  It's just perfect for a diaper bag, and I have just the new mama in mind.  I also made a matching card using some of the elements from the bag.  Together I think this will make a great gift!  Another great challenge from the Play Date Cafe.  I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day shared with love ones.  Have a great week.

The Sleepy Stamper,

For my card I used a Kraft card stock and the same trim I used behind the rose on my bag.  Using only the edge of the lace trim on either side of the patterned paper gives it an edge punched look.  To help tie the card in with the bag I stitched on both edges of my patterned paper.  The rose on my card is from Prima, and the bow is made from seam binding purchased from the Memrie Mare.  I framed the sentiment with a tattered angles alphabet frame which I distressed with Ranger's Antique Linen ink.

Kraft Journal Theme #5

This week's theme over at the Kraft Journal blog is "LOVE".  What an approate theme with Valentine's Day just around the corner.  For my card I started with a Kraft card stock for the base along with a Lunch Bag card stock for my sentiment.  Both were purchased from the Kraft Outlet.  The patterned paper is from Colorbok, called "Flea Market".  I stamped my sentiment in Craft White from SU, then embossed it with Very Vanilla.  I would have stamped in Very Vanilla to start, but I'm afraid I have misplaced my pad (sad face).  I'm sure it will turn up in the pantry, or in my underwear drawer, or some crazy place like that.  Craft shows up so well on this Lunch Bag card stock!  I distress it using my Craft White and popped it up with dimensionals.  I sewed around my patterned paper because well..I haven't broken out my sewing machine in such a long time it was just calling out to me.  I added a few embellishments and my card was done. I hope everyone had a lovely Sunday and thank you for taking a peak!

Papercraft Star Challenge 32

Good Saturday morning!  Just a quick post this morning.  I can hear my little ones laughing in the next room and it sounds like the day is starting off right!  What a cute sketch this week.  I thought I would use my brand new MFT stamp set called, "Jolinne-Your A Star".  Although I love, LOVE the Pure Innocence line from MFT, Jolinne is quickly becoming one of my favorites!  For this card I used Soft Suede card stock from SU as my base and a patterned paper from Colorbok called "Flea Market".  For Jolinne's dress I stamped the image on a Shimmer White card stock then again on a patterned paper.  Next carefully cut the dress out from the patterned paper and adhered it to my image stamped on the white card stock.  This paper piecing technique is perfect for this image.  I then used Copic Markers to color in the rest.  Well I'm off to join the fun.  Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday 177

Brrr!  It has been cold here in Central Texas.  We are just not used to temperatures in the teens!  Not to worry, later this week we'll be back in the 70's!  Staying in doors have given me time to work on some Valentines Day projects.  For this card I used my new Verve products!  The stamp set I used is called "Swirling Hearts" along with the coordinating die called "Vintage Oval".  The paper is from Making Memories called "Je t'adore".  I used some vintage dictionary paper I purchased from an Etsy shop called, The Lucky Girl.  I matted the dictionary paper on a kraft card stock that I had punched around using an edge punch by Martha Stewart.  Such a cute sketch.  I hope everyone is having a good week and thank you for taking a peek.

Happy Blogaversary Tracy!

So one of my favorite blogs to get inspiration from is Tracy's "I Wanna Build a Memory".  Not only is she celebrating her first anniversary, she is also giving away BLOG CANDY!  What a great way to celebrate!  I made this card to help celebrate Tracy reaching this milestone.  The stamp set I used is from My Favorite Things stamps called "Who's that E Girl.".  I paper pieced the skirt and couch along with the wall in the background.  The paper is from The Girl's Paperie, and the card stock is from Taylored Expressions.  I love the way this card came out.   A winner for the blog candy will be drawn on Feb. 14th, so there is still plenty of time to enter!  Thank you for stopping by.
