Play Date Cafe Challenge 59

Sunday evening and a wonderful weekend has come to an end.  Luckily for me my husband is off from work tomorrow so the fun can continue!  I did have some time to play at the Play Date Cafe!  The colors for this weeks challenge were bold colors.  I had wanted to make a frame pendant for a while now and thought these colors were perfect.  I found beads that were a crystal Caribbean blue.  I made a chain using the beads along with coordinating ribbon with the challenge colors.  I must admit that I have never made a chain before. Using a demo, given by Regan from Emora Designs Blog, I managed to get through it.   For the pendant, I really wanted to do a collage of different images.  I was able to use my stamp set Artistic Etchings from Stampin Up which worked nicely in such a small area.  I also cut a small piece of patterned paper with pinking shears and adhered a small lace flower topped with some of the smallest bling I've ever seen, called twinkles.  The words were from a long forgotten stamp set also from Stampin Up called So Many Sayings. I loved working on this project.  Thank you Sara Anderson for an awesome color challenge!  Thank you for stopping by.

Papercraft Star Challenge 24

Hello everyone.  This week I am thrilled to be a guest designer for Papercraft Star's Green Holiday Challenge.  The challenge is to create a holiday gift, card or scrapbook layout using recycled or repurposed items you already have on-hand.  A while back I saved an item from the trash at my husband's office.  It was an outdated software packet.  I thought it would make a perfect item to alter and use to hold photo CD's.  I started with some mod podge and covered the outside cover with scrap papers I had.  I then used an old doily (slightly torn) to cover the spine of the cover.  Using some old gift cards that I ran through my sizzix, I cut out the bird on the bottom corner and covered it with vintage text. The lined paper is actually a cutting slip from Hobby Lobby which I then stamped the Eiffel Tower on. For the tassel, I used some broken necklaces along with some ribbon that I took off of baby clothes too worn to donate.  The key is my favorite embellishment.  I took an old key, inked it up in craft ink and embossed it with white embossing power.  for the inside book I simply covered it with more scraps of printed papers.  For added embellishment, I adhered an old applique to the cover.  Well I hope you give this challenge a go.  Thank you for taking a peek.

Play Date Cafe Challenge 58

So I've misplaced my camera, but then again I misplace it about once a week.  Only this time I haven't been able to find it for days : (.  This week's color challenge at the  Play Date Cafe is use the colors red and white.  Perfect for a Christmas project right!  To tell you the truth I need a break from Christmas projects.  Just a small one.  I'll be back in that Christmas spirit and savoring every moment of this magical holiday soon.  For this project I drew inspiration from the amazing design team creations as well as the entries.  I just love Paul's entry over at the Artsiders.  Simple elegance.  So I made a gift bag and used A LOT of bling.    I had a rhinestone button that I had purchased a while back for a cape I made but never used so I thought why not use it now.  Then I made a coordinating card.  The rose on the card was made using the same ribbon as the bow on the bag.  I found this great tutorial on You Tube on how to make ribbon roses.  I was so easy.  I'll need to find the video again and link it up.  Quick post today nap time is almost over.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  Thanks for stopping by.

The Sleepy Stamper,

My apologies for the bad pictures.  I used my phone camera.

Papercraft Star Challenge 23

This week's sponsor for the Papercraft Star challenge is Lucky Girl Goods!  It's an Etsy shop that sells vintage paper stamps along with other hand made embellishments!  Now, I love me some vintage!  You can imagine my excitement when I read that there was a special discount for Papercraft Star followers!  Vintage AND a sale...reel me in because I've just been baited!
This week's challenge is to create a holiday gift tag using cardstock, patterned paper, stamped and/or die cut ribbon or twine, and gems or pearls.  Now, how to fit all of that on a tag?  Well, let's start with a big tag.  I used the largest die from the Spellbinders Labels 14.  I then cut Very Vanilla cardstock and covered it with some patterned paper from Melissa Frances called "Home for the Holidays."  I wanted to go for a Victorian- styled tag, so I added a lace trim along with pearl accents.  Using some pinking shears, I cut a piece of cardstock stamped with music notes and added a vintage button.  I then finished it off by adding different ribbons and twill.  I hope everyone gets a chance to check out the Papercraft Star blog this weekend and vote on your favorite tag!  Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by.
