Play date cafe challenge 57

This week's Play Date Cafe challenge is to use the colors: Brown, Grey and Silver.  For this card I used another set from Waltzing Mouse stamps called Very Vintage Christmas.  I usually don't think of these colors as Christmas colors; however, when I completed this card it just reminded me of a hot cup of cocoa on a cold Christmas morning.  As usual, I found a great wealth of inspiration from the Play Date Cafe design team along with this weeks participants.  On another note it was announced that this week is the last week for design team members Lisa Somerville, and Suzanne Czosek.  Lisa Somerville and Suzanne Czosek are amazingly talented designers, and I know they will be missed at the Play Date Cafe.  Good luck on your future endeavors ladies, and thank you for all the amazing examples of color challenges.

Mojo Challenge 166

It's Sunday evening and a beautiful Thanksgiving holiday has come to an end.  I hope everyone has had a lovely holiday!  I've been enjoying my family and doing some Christmas decorating.  I did find some time to play along in the Mojo Monday challenge 166.  I was able to use some stamps I purchased from Waltzing Mouse Stamps.  The Holiday Label No. 14 which coordinates with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Fourteen.  I love it when stamp companies coordinate their stamps with dies.  Verve has a new winter season stamp set called  "Glad Tidings" that coordinates with their very own dies!  So many goodies out there to temp us crafters!  Just add it to the wish list and pass that baby around!  I find that texting my tech hubby the links to my favorite online stores is VERY helpful! I hope everyone has a good work week, and thank you for stopping by.

Happy Holidays Card

Thanksgiving week and the days are flying by!  Where does the time go?  I did manage, however, to put another card together to play in this week's Playdate Cafe Color Challenge.  The colors for this week are:  olive, red and turquoise.  For my card I used this super cute stamp set from Taylored Expressions called Penguin Pals.  I colored the image in the Playdate challenge colors and added Fun Flock to the trim on the little penguin's hat.  I used another one of my ric rac flowers as an embellishment.  I had some paper on hand called Dashing that worked perfectly with this project.  I have to say I am loving the ric rac.  These flowers come together pretty quickly, and with fabric tack this little baby is definitely staying put.  I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving holiday.  Thank you so much for stopping by.

Papercraft Star Challenge 22

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  For me this week has gone by much too fast.  With Thanksgiving fast approaching it's full speed ahead with the Christmas cards!  This weeks challenge over at the Papercraft Star Blog is to create a Christmas card or tag featuring a Christmas tree, or Ornament.  Participants are asked to use a die cut item, along with ribbon, bling and a handmade embellishment.  For my card I used an globed sticker embellishment from K&Co along with the coordinating mat pack.  For my handmade embellishment I made a ric rac ribbon flower.  These flowers are so cute and I just have to share with all of you where I learned to make these flowers.  I purchased a book titled Ribbonrie by Making Memories.  In this book, there a lot of ways to use ribbon in your craft and home decor projects.  I was able to pick one up from my local Achiver's at an awesomely affordable price of $5.  For my flower I made a large ric rac flower and adhered a smaller flower on top using a fabric adhesive.  Well as aways thank you for stopping by.

Birthday card

Just a quick post this evening.  Here's a card I created for the Cupcake's Creations color challenge. The colors this week are:  purple, light purple, and gray.  I'm a big fan of Mona Pendletons' blog "Cupcake's Creations".  The card she created for this challenge is STUNNING!  I'm now in a race to purchase the crown spellbinders!  I'm always in need of birthday cards so here's my entry.  Thank you for stopping by.

Play Date Cafe Challenge 55

This week's challenge at the Play Date Cafe is to use FIVE colors:  red, pale blue, pink, bright blue and burgundy.  Wow, now that's a challenge!  For my project this week, I wanted to make a purse.  My little girl loves purses!  She's only a year old and already drags my purse around anytime she can.  I used a soft pink paper with a brown newsprint from My Mind's Eye called Lost and Found.  I wanted to make this project more durable so I used an iron-on vinyl over my paper.  I simply placed my paper face down to the sticky side of the vinyl, covered it with the protective sheet and activated the adhesive by ironing all over the paper.  Using the vinyl helped the purse keep its shape.  With all the adhesive it takes to adhere 3D projects, sometimes papers and cardstock can get torn or wrinkled.  This purse came together fairly quickly.  I  added embellishments to the front along with a little lace ribbon and called it a day.  Wouldn't this make a great gift bag!  Thanks for stopping by.

Papercraft Star Challenge 21

This week's challenge over at the Papercraft Star blog is to use a photo from Martha Stewart Living as inspiration to create a Christmas-themed card or tag.  Easy right?  There is a catch!  The photo is of a summer decorated room!  Looking at the photo I think of a warm summer day, listening to the waves gently break in the distance.  Ah, serenity...  But, for my card, I went for a winter look by stamping snowflakes on white card stock in different shades of blue.  I then went over it with a glue pen and added glitter to give it sparkle.  Once all my papers were adhered to my card front, I took a snowflake ornament and hung it from a Tattered Angle's frame.  A few more embellishments, and my card was done.  I don't know if I created that same tranquil feeling when looking at my card, but I definitely like the finished product.  Thank you for stopping by, and have a great weekend.

Taylored Expression Sketch Challenge 133

The weekend is in sight my friends!  I'm looking forward to a good weekend, but first I wanted to play in this weeks sketch challenge over at the Taylored Expressions blog.  I place an order for some super cute stamps and am anxiously waiting to receive them.  For this sketch I use a stamp set that started my love for card crafting.  This old favorite has made on the fonts of many Christmas cards.  I used a paper pack from Basic Grey called Jovial.  The patterns in this pack give a warm country Christmas feeling.  I look forward to seeing the new sketch over at the Taylored Expression blog tomorrow.  Thank you for stopping  by.

Play Date Cafe Challenge 54

This week at the Play Date Cafe blog the challenge is to use the colors:  stucco orange, celery green, and white.  The designers for this blog are, as always, so inspirational.  This week however I was inspired by the kindness of a complete stranger.  You see, last Monday I was involved in a car accident.  A man who had been drinking ran a red light and hit my vehicle at an intersection.  All airbags in my SUV deployed, and after being hit twice I came to a stop.  I was so confused, how could I possible be hit?  A woman knocked on my window and asked if I was ok.  She then helped me from my car and carefully walked me out of harm's way.  When I was asked if anyone else was in the car I broke down in tears.  Just ten minutes earlier I was ready to put my little baby in the car, had it not been for my husband who suggested she stay home to take her bath early.  Although I was grateful that I was the only one in the car, the idea of my children potentially being there tore me up.  The lady who sat with me asked if she could pray for me and I just nodded.  She then prayed that the Lord would ease my fears and fill me with calmness and the Lord's grace.  That was all I needed.  She wished me well as I was taken to the hospital.  I wish I knew her name so I could thank her.  I wanted to thank her for stopping to help, the prayer, and for having the courage to get involved.  This project is dedicated to my kind stranger.  I hope one day we will meet again, but in better circumstances.  Thank you for stopping by my bloggy friends.

Mojo Monday 163

Mojo Monday first of the month!  I have to say everytime this comes around I try to enter for at least a chance to be one of the talented few who are chosen to be the Mojolicious of them all!!!  Recently a friend of mine was taking a step away from stamping and decided to sell all of her supplies.  Even though I tried to talk her out of it, I do understand the value of family and the need to spend more time with the ones you love.  Luckily for me I was able to purchase some of her supplies and stamp sets, one of which was this lovely stamp set from Verve called O' Christmas Tree.  What a beautiful collection of stamps!  This is my entry for this week's Mojo Monday.  To my friend, I'll have a basket of goodies waiting for you when you get that itch to stamp again!  Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek!

Papercraft Star Challenge 19

This week over at the Papercraft Star blog the challenge is Simon Says.  You are given a list of requirements to use in completing your project, which in this case is a card.  I had recently purchased some beautiful papers called "Lost and Found" from "My Minds Eye."  I started out trying to make a "Thank you" card; however,  the more I combined the different elements, the direction quickly went to a Valentine's theme.  The die I used was an embossing die from SU. I just love the way this card turned out.  I have to admit that I get a little carried away with the embelishments and I find it hard to control myself, but this card screamed STOP! So, I did.  I hope everyone has a beautiful weekend.  Thank you for stopping by.

Play Date Cafe Challenge 53

The Play Date Cafe Challenge for this past week was a color splash challenge.  The challenge is to use the colors black and white with a splash of burgundy.  It just so happens that when I married my high school crush almost twelve years ago, burgundy was one of our colors.  I just had to make an Anniversary card for this challenge.  I found this beautiful black and white paper at my local craft store and loved that it looked like a printed linen. It has such a nice weight to it. Then a while back I had purchased these fabulous rhinestone buttons from Brazzill Buttons which worked perfect with this card.  This Saturday we will be celebrating our wedding Anniversary and I'm so pleased I had a chance to make this card.  How young we were then, and how happy we still are now.  Thank you for stopping by.
